Project Coordinator and Community Development Officer jobs in Mombasa, Kenya Kisauni

Kisauni Environment Project intends to appoint two staff members for the following roles:

The project context
Community Development Trust Fund (CDTF) supports environmental projects of 2.5 years in Kisauni, Mombasa with the following objectives:

* The promotion and adoption of renewable energy systems and technology for youth Kisauni Polytechnique and the wider community
* Adapting to climate change through improved water sources, gathering water, access to drinking water and tree planting
* Improved environmental governance, living conditions and reduce emissions through improved management systems of solid waste, including recycling


This project will run from January 2012 - June 2014 and would like to appoint two members of staff to lead and achieve these goals.

The position is as follows:

1. Project Coordinator
Full-time
Gross Salary: Kshs 40000-45000

The important criteria

* Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in environmental science or equivalent project management
* At least 3 years of relevant experience
* Good communication skills
* Good report writing
* Knowledge and experience of the work environment / natural resource management, esp. Renewable Energy
* Development of Community competence and experience
* Ability to manage financial resources
Computer skills *


Desirable criteria

* Diploma or degree in environmental science or equivalent project management
* Familiarity with environmental and coastal work
* The technical expertise and relevant knowledge, such as solar heating systems, pipes, the water management


2. Community Development Officer
Full-time
Gross Salary: Kshs 30000-35, 000

The important criteria

* The minimum qualifications: Diploma of Community Development, Social Services and Project Management
* At least 2 years relevant experience
* Good communication skills
* Good report writing
* Knowledge and experience of the work environment / natural resource management
* Community mobilization skills
* Facilitate and training capacity
* Ability to manage financial resources
Computer skills *


Desirable criteria

* Degree of community development, social work or project management
* Familiarity with environmental and coastal work
* Knowledge and experience of employment issues of renewable energy
