The organizational context
Mine Action Programme in Somalia has been implemented by UNMAS in 2002. The program began in Somalia (1992-1993, 1997-1998 and 1999-present) and Puntland (2003-2005), and set up projects for capacity building by providing technical assistance for mine action Central Somaliland and Puntland and the National Police explosive ordnance team.

Mine clearance operations in southern Somalia was launched in 2007 with the main objective the creation of the National Mine Action Coordination Centre to cover the remaining area of ​​south-central Somalia.

The United Nations mine action in Somalia (UNSOMA) were transferred and Mine Action Service operate under the responsibility of the United Nations (UNMAS), executed by UNOPS. In South Central, UNSOMA will expand its activities in support of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

To complete the capacity to supply and support troops to AMISOM EOD (explosive), the activities in Mogadishu in order to reduce large amounts of ERW (explosive moments War) and stockpiles throughout the city, police EOD teams will be deployed in Mogadishu, consultation with emergency MRE initiatives by UNMAS, UNICEF and UNHCR to reach large numbers of return for the provision of humanitarian assistance.

UNSOMA has offices in Nairobi to provide management and support of the Regional Office for Somalia.

Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the UNMAS head of security, daily reports to the management of Dolow UNMAS, the owner assumes the rights and responsibilities as follows:

LSA - The function keys:

* Support the head of security in the development of standard operating procedures (SOP) for all tasks related to security and operations in place UNMAS and Dadaab in the region, including the services of retirement UNMAS.
* Assist the head of security procedures in the audit reports and Daadab in applications and security areas, including security risk assessments, security clearance and implementation of risk mitigation measures.
* Recommend improvements to the security settings of the Office Daadab head.
* Active in contact with UNDSS staff, police and military and host country, in which leaders must, at a local clan and community safety and security personnel UNMAS.
* Perform a safety briefing incoming UNMAS staff, if any;
* Assist in the collection of information on possible security threats to personnel and property UNMAS and prepare daily reports;

* Information on the minimum standards of reliability (MOSS) for vehicles and standard operating procedures (SOP) on a trip, including reporting procedures to the radio room, the cons-measures for car theft, the assaults, riots and public demonstrations


Education and Experience

Education:

* Experience in military or police will be profitable or experience in the way of job security alternatives
* Secondary
* Minimum 3-5 years experience in the UN, I / NGOs, humanitarian agencies, the police, the field of military security
* Valid driver's license
* Specialty Certification will be an advantage
* Knowledge and understanding of communications equipment, including computers, radios, phones, satellite phones and faxes


Professionalism:

Other requirements
